About Us

Here’s what makes us tick.

Mission

Our mission is to enable individuals, families and society to thrive as dignified and joyful human beings at work, home and play in our exciting but disruptive technological world.

Core beliefs

  1. Human beings are of inherent worth.
  2. Self-sacrifice is among the most noble of human virtues.
  3. Technology and AI present one of the greatest challenges (and opportunities) which humanity has ever faced.
  4. We can’t avoid being impacted by technology, but we can control how.
  5. If we don’t respond rightly to 3) we will either become slaves of technology (and the few who control it), or we will tragically fail to embrace the legitimate benefits which it could afford us.
  6. Technology should serve the unchanging needs of humanity, including friendship, family, belonging, meaningful work, redemption and hope.
  7. However, technology itself cannot be our ultimate redemption or hope.
  8. Designing a world in which 6) is true is best thought of as an earth-shaped engineering challenge.
  9. In order to solve the challenge in 8), we need to align the interests of the individual, the family, organisations and national governments so that they operate in synergy.

What we do

In order to fulfil that mission, we make it our aim to produce a range of high-quality content for consumption by a wide audience, that cumulatively helps our followers to live out our core beliefs in their own lives, families, organisations and society.

In particular, we produce (or aspire to produce) content such as:

  • Blog posts and articles
  • Books
  • Seminars and in-person training
  • Online courses and videos
  • “How-to” guides, checklists, tools etc.
  • Sharable content

Topics we address

We like to research, distil and communicate things that really matter. A lot of things matter, yes. It’s not hard to find things that matter. The challenge is in identifying what deserves our attention the most.

We spend a lot of time asking questions like: What matters the most in life? What is the best thing for me to be doing? What should be the foremost priorities to devote my time, energy and resources to?

These are hard questions. Superlatives are often the most difficult assertions to justify. But by definition, they are the ones which deserve our greatest attention.

We tend to focus on topics such as:

  • Purposeful Productivity
  • Security, Privacy & Safety
  • Tech, Tools & AI
  • Digital Skills
  • Redeeming Technology
  • Horizon Watch

The ideas we share are usually not our own. After all, great ideas are rarely new. We study a range of fields, including psychology, physics, politics, business and economics, history, theology, computer science and philosophy, among others, to extract their most poignant insights. The concepts which we discover and consolidated and refined, over countless hours of research and experimentation.

We don’t have everything figured out – not by a long shot! But we do believe that important things are worth sharing. Not only that, but we all have a duty to share them. Living a coherent, meaningful and effective life should not be a privilege for those on the inside, but a free choice available to us all.

This website is our best attempt at sharing with you what we think matters the most.

Our approach to content creation

The general principles which govern how we create content are:

  • Clarity and conciseness – ‘Omit needless words
  • Actionable and effective
  • Mutually-consistent
  • Reasoned and well-informed
  • Important, not trivial

We love to hear from our readers, so if you have something you’d like to share please do not hesitate to contact us or send some anonymous feedback.

We sincerely hope you benefit from what we share.
