Undertaking a part-time PhD in Cyber Security, focussing on the novel use of LLMs, topic modelling & clustering to conduct cyber threat characterisation and feature importance analysis to improve the robustness of asset-based threat modelling, particularly in view of modelling and improving the cyber controls set out by the Cyber Essentials scheme.

Part-Qualified Patent Attorney

D Young & Co. LLP (Sept 2015 – July 2018)

Drafting and prosecuting patent applications for a range of clients located in the UK, Europe and worldwide. My specialist areas of work include:

  • Computer architecture and security
  • Telecommunications and audio/video standards
  • Image and signal processing, and medical devices

I also developed bespoke in-house software solutions, was active within D Young’s trainee recruitment process, and wrote a number of legal and commercial articles for external publication.

Co-Founder, Software Developer

Trackstack (Jan 2015 – July 2015)

Joined the founding team to develop the business model, improve the technology and raise funds for growth. Trackstack eventually evolved into a collaborative playlist add-on for Spotify users.

Technical Lead

Lastmarch Games (Jan 2014 – July 2015)

Managed the design and development of complex map-based multiplayer iOS application and implemented the in-game experience in Objective-C. Gained considerable experience in using version control with Git.

I went to school on the Isle of Wight before moving to Southampton to study Electronic Engineering. I took some time out in 2017 to study Intellectual Property law before returning to the University of Southampton in 2018 to begin a part-time PhD alongside my work.

City Councillor

Southampton City Council (May 2018 – May 2022)

Elected to represent the people of Peartree in Southampton. As part of my role I have also sat on the Overview and Scrutiny Management Committee, the Health Overview and Scrutiny panel, the Children and Families Panel and on the Planning and Rights of Way panel. My main areas of policy involvement were in IT and digital transformation.
